Description:

On our Power Strip Direct Pressure machine, we incorporated a 1.7 cubic foot Pressure Pot and a Cyclone Separator Reclaimer, which we locate outside the blasting chamber. This machine uses the Pneumatic Conveyor and Cyclone which allows for the operation of fine and ultra-fine abrasive media. Fine abrasive often causes visibility problems, mixing valve feed problems and high abrasive usage rates. Removing the abrasive from the cabinet and storing it outside, creates the best possible cabinet visibility and also helps dry and fluff the abrasive, yielding a more uniform abrasive flow to the nozzle. Because the Cyclone design on the Power Strip is so efficient, the abrasive consumption of this unit is truly the lowest possible. Reducing moisture, increasing visibility and reducing abrasive usage are all important benefits received when using the Power Strip blast machine.

The Pressure Pot is used to pneumatically push the abrasive media through the blast hose. This is why a pressure machine produces faster abrasive velocities than the typical Siphon Blast machine which doesn’t utilize a Pressure Pot.

Operation with finer blasting media, 150-325 mesh, through hole part blasting, high abrasive Frictional Heat and blind-hole cleaning are all advantages when using the Power Strip Direct Pressure blasting cabinet.

The dust collector on this machine is negative pressure with an easy to clean dust storage hopper. Negative pressure operation of the dust collector ensures longer duty cycles, a cleaner work area and longer blower service life. We use a replaceable cartridge style filter with either 220 or 440 square feet of filter surface area. This setup eliminates the need for costly factory service on the dust collector, which results in savings of both time and money. The dust collector also comes with a pneumatic vibrating cleaning assembly for effortless cleaning. This dust collector's capacity to store dust, along with the ease of service, is what makes this machine the right choice for Production operations.

In addition, larger dust collectors are available for even the harshest Production requirements.

The Power Strip Cabinet is also available with a standard 40 degree top for general part cleaning, or the expanded top with the reduced window slope for taller parts is also available on many sizes, see Standard Models section for more information.

Air Requirements: 25-150 CFM
Compressor: Standard nozzle size in all Power Strip models is  1/4” I.D. using 41 cfm @ 40 psi. and 56 cfm at 60 psi.  A smaller 3/16 nozzle can be used to reduce the requirement to 23 and 31 respectively but smaller than 3/16”nozzles are not advised on any Power Strip Production Model.  See Micro PrecisionBlast models, Media Blast machines designed to operate properly with smaller compressed air requirements.  Compressors vary greatly, check specification on your compressor for HP and or CFM output, 10 HP minimum is advised.  A general rule for piston air compressors would be 4 cfm / motor horse power, for more information on compressor selection see Air Basics.

Most direct pressure machines exceed maximum abrasive impact velocity at 40-60 psi, this includes glass beads, plastics, soda, garnet and silicon carbide.  Steel Shot, grit and aluminum oxide will operate at higher pressures.
Recommended Abrasive Size:

150-220 (also operates with larger and finer sizes, finer may require HEPA After-Filtration)

Warning: NEVER USE A POOR QUALITY LOW RECYCLE ABRASIVE OR SILICA SAND IN ANY MEDIA BLAST EQUIPMENT.  THE RAPID AND CONTINUOUS BREAKDOWN OF POOR QUALITY ABRASIVES, WILL REDUCE CABINET VISIBILITY AND OVERLOAD THE DUST COLLECTOR ON ANY BLASTING MACHINE.  SILICA SAND CAN BE A HEALTH HAZARD WHEN USED IN ANY BLASTING CABINET AND THE USE OF SILICA SAND VOIDS THE WARRANTY ON ALL MEDIA BLAST EQUIPMENT.
