Description:

The Hailstorm Direct Pressure machine by Media Blast is a production machine, specifically designed for operation using plastic abrasive. (We consider Production operation to be 1 or more hours of daily usage of the blast machine). Plastic abrasive typically, does not alter the surface of the substrate being processed. This is beneficial when processing aluminum parts or removing paints or powder coatings that have a chemical pretreatment underneath the top coat.

The Hailstorm machine comes complete with a pneumatic abrasive conveyor that works in conjunction with the high efficiency Cyclone Separator Reclaimer to retain and convey the plastic abrasive into the 1.7 cubic foot direct pressure vessel located outside the blast cabinet.

All Hailstorm machines are equipped with special features including a Magnetic Separator, Anti-Static Kit, Clearview Window, Expanded Dual Cartridge Dust Collector with 440 square foot of filter surface area and much more.

Almost all Hailstorm cabinets include the expanded height top with the reduced window slope for processing taller parts that require additional inside cabinet height.

Technical Specifications:

Machine Type: Direct Pressure
Air Requirements: 25-150 CFM
Compressor: Standard nozzle size on all Hailstorm models is a 1/4" I.D. nozzle using 41 cfm @ 40 psi.  Plastic abrasive is large in particle size and using a smaller nozzle, while saving on compressed air, will greatly reduce the plastic flow.    A 3/16" nozzle can be used to reduce the requirement to 23 cfm @ 40 psi but smaller than 3/16" nozzles are not recommended on any Hailstorm Model.  Compressors vary greatly, check specification on your compressor for HP and or CFM output, 10 HP minimum is advised.  A general rule for piston air compressors would be 4 cfm for each motor horse power, for more information on compressor selection see Air Basics.
Recommended Abrasive Size: 12-80 Mesh
Common Abrasives Used: Plastic
Warning: Never use non-recyclable abrasives, poor quality abrasives or Silica Sand.  The Rapid and continuous breakdown of these abrasives reduce cabinet visibility and loads the dust collector filters, rendering them ineffective. USE OF SILICA SAND VOIDS THE WARRANTY ON ANY MEDIA BLAST EQUIPMENT.
Paint Specs: Environmentally Friendly High Grade Polyurethane High Gloss Paint. Standard colors MBA Beige and High Gloss White. Custom color matches and Powder Coating available per customer supplied color sample. Call for pricing.
