Hurricane Wet Blaster

The Hurricane Wet Blast Machine uses a seal-less slurry pump to agitate the abrasive and water into a slurry mixture. This design produces the highest percentage of abrasive to water, outperforming designs using air agitation. The slurry mixture is pumped directly to the abrasive blast gun where compressed air pressure accelerates the mixture to the desired pressure rating.

The Hurricane Exhaust Blower and low-velocity scrubber/filter maintains a negative cabinet pressure that prevents the cabinet mist from escaping during the blasting application. During operation a fresh water timed window rinse assembly provides continuous operator visibility through the operator view window. The cabinet light is located outside the sandblasting cabinet and light enters the cabinet through a sight window located on top of the unit.

Media Blast offers the Hurricane wet blasting cabinet in five standard cabinet sizes with two different window slopes, 40 and 17 degree. All Hurricane models are constructed using 12- and 14-gauge 304 stainless steel.

While most applications today are processed using dry blasters many applications require the elimination of fractional heat created by dry blasting. If you need a chemically clean part surface for critical plating, no abrasive impregnation into the part surface, minimum part surface removal during blasting, a water cushion to prevent tooling damage or just the use of abrasive mesh sizes to 5000 mesh look to the Hurricane for the solution.

Technical Information: HURRICANE WET BLASTER
Machine Type: Wet Blaster
Compressed Air Usage: 25 cfm @ 90 psi
Suggested Air Compressor: The Hurricane was designed to operate using facility compressed air. Many small piston type air compressors will operate the Hurricane when a smaller gun is utilized; ask for more details. Air compressors vary greatly, check the cfm output on the compressor being used or visit Air Basics for more information on compressor selection.
Pro Tip: Never buy a compressor using the displacement cfm number, always use the second cfm volume number listed with 90-100 psi inside the tank, because tank pressure reduces performance.
Recommended Abrasive Size: 150 to 5000 mesh
Most Used Abrasive Type: Glass Beads, Aluminum Oxide, Silicon Carbide, Garnet and others (specific gravity sensitive). It is possible to use abrasives larger than 150 mesh, ask for details about special pump performance.
WARNING: Abrasive Restrictions and Warning
Paint Specification: Environmentally friendly, high-grade polyurethane high gloss paint. Standard colors include MBA beige and high gloss light gray. Custom color matching is available using customer supplied color sample, please call 866-204-7068 for pricing.
